My hope in the counseling process is to cultivate a place where individuals feel genuinely heard and experience safety and acceptance that helps them walk through difficult emotions and circumstances while also discovering healthier ways of regulating emotions, connecting with others, and being in the “here and now.” I believe the counseling process is both deeply relational and collaborative and cultivating a safe environment where clients can authentically express themselves paves the way for healing and growth.
I typically use one or a combination of the following theories and techniques throughout the counseling process: Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), mindfulness techniques, Narrative Exposure Therapy (NET), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT). I am certified in Prepare Enrich and trained in Centering Prayer (A mindfulness/contemplative based prayer practice). I am also happy to provide Christian counseling if desired.
